Awful service. Blood test late for an hour. If you cannot accommodate all people at least allocate more time for each patient to avoid patient frustration. Only one bay is working for a long time, chaotic movements of staff. Absolutely disappointed.

Went to have a blood test done. Arrived 5 minutes before time, gave my form to the receptionist, she did her bit gave me back my form and 2 sticker labels with relevant information on them. Then I waited, more wait, really long wait. Watched people who arrived after me go in and come out, I am still waiting. By this time the receptionist went home and someone else to cover. She was there for all of 15 minutes then brought the shutter down, locked up and left. People were arriving for pre booked appointments and there was no one to book them in. After an hour I went to ask a nurse about my appointment and later arrivals going before me only to be told to go and sit down as she was with a patient. Fair enough but she was rude and was the only nurse available to talk too. I then got up and went home.it was a really hot day and I wasn't feeling myself, all hot and bothered. Why did they close reception and leave us with nobody to answer questions or book people in.i have since had an email from the website asking why I didn't turn up...but I did. Absolute shambles.

The medical and reception side of my 2 days of visits to determine if I had DVT was very good. Ambulance transport to the hospital was excellent- I was advised I would be picked up around 0930 for a 1330 appointment. The inwards trip was good, the 2 hours wait for the return trip not so good. The second day ambulance trips were abominable. Instead of around 1200 for a 1330 appointment the ambulance arrived at I hurriedly readied myself and the ambulance left a 1046. We travelled around 10 miles, parked and waited almost 3/4 hour for the next patient. No explanation was given! The third patient a few more miles away was ready for departure in a minute or so. Not a good experience on the outwards ambulance trip. However the return trip was much worse. My medical exam finished at 1405 and I was advised to expect my home trip to be around 1430. 1430 passed and I was advised the ambulance was on its way to pick me up. By 1500 hours and no ambulance but advised 1530. By that time and no ambulance I was being advised that the unit normally closes at 1600, but only if all patients have left for home. By 1600 and no ambulance I tried to get a taxi several times before success. I feel sure that terrible service was not planned as a part privatisation of the ambulance service and would now question why it was implemented. NOT VALUE FOR TAXPAYERS MONEY!!!

My dad (dementia patient) had an appointment for a blood test in the afternoon. I called the reception asking if he could be seen earlier (same day) as my sister has an appointment in the same hospital, so we wouldn’t have to go twice to the hospital, 2 hours apart. The answer was a simple ‘we are solid booked for 5 min appointments so no’. I advise we could wait for a bit to be seen in between patients but the answer was exactly the same like reading a script. No flexibility in accommodating patient requests or at least trying. I understand it is not possible for long appointments but as the receptionist said, it’s a 5 min appointment (it takes even less than that every time we do go) I work in NHS myself and I see this as little interest in accommodating patients.

hospital is let down by receptionists, unhelpful in blood taking department, main reception (didn't even check the list and was about to turn me away before another lady stepped in), x ray reception is so rude, doesn't even look up at people. Doctors and nurses are great - reception are unfriendly and rude in most departments.

I was recently seen by Dr Sigurlaug Sveinbjornsdottir concerning problems I have been having with my balance (plus other things). I was rather nervous because I was worried about what might be causing these symptoms. Dr Sveinbjornsdottir was amazing! She put me at ease straight away with her caring, professional manner and explained everything as the appointment progressed. I would strongly advise anyone with similar problems to see this extremely kind doctor. I came out of the appointment feeling much more confident and felt that I was in very good hands with another follow-up appointment in three months time. Jenny Fowers

Attended for a pre-booked blood test. Arrived at stipulated time to be told they were running 45 mins to an hour late. Told to wait outside the door in the rain and 2 deg C. They would call me in just before they were ready. Don't go here for a blood test. It's a shame nobody from the hospital ever responds to the posts on here. Just shows they don't give a damn about patients.

With regard to the minor injuries unit. During my recent attendance, I found all staff encountered were extremely helpful anD attendant to my needs. In particular the three nurses assessing and managing my treatment. The way they worked as a team sharing with each other possible treatments, their application and experience were of the highest order. Thank you NHS.
